I’ve used this for offline reading several times and it’s a convenient solution on iOS.Įven more amazing is iCab’s option to save or generate an image of the current page. Saving as a PDF doesn’t provide active links, but the links are converted to show the URL, which is actually quite nice. From there I can do a bunch of interesting things. iCab is overflowing with plugins but the built in tools are equally awesome.įrom any page, I open the “Screenshots…” action menu. I can even organize my files into folders (but I don’t). I do this less now that I have Copied for iOS and Mac but it’s still a really nice option. From any apps share sheet, just push a file to iCab and you’ll have access to it all in one place. ICab can also be used as a hold place for other apps.
Then I jump into the Download section of iCab to work with them.

I can cruise through a research session and download images, zip files, PDFs, or just about anything. The Download center in iCab is terrific little holding place for all sorts of data. I think it’s great on the iPad but don’t have as much use for it on my iPhone. If navigation is more of your focus, then take a look at the Multitouch gesture support. Just don’t get too crazy with the shapes since it can get frustrating to get iCab to recognize complex drawings. This is completely customizable in the “User Interface>Draw Gestures” section. I pop it open and draw shapes that cause the browser to do things like scroll up and down, go forward and back, or even send the current page to another app. The “Draw Panel” is a super feature for a one-handed. That, right there, is one of the reasons I like iCab. Yours probably looks different, including the various menus.

My install of iCab is very customized because of what I do with it. The action menu is completely customizable and makes it simply to do the things I need. ICab is all about doing stuff with the web. The modules that iCab comes with are also practical and that fulfill various practical functions: you can automatically reload a website after a certain time, download YouTube videos directly in the browser or simply display all the images on a website in an overview. This is how fraudulent URLs can be built – iCab can filter these addresses. International domain names are often used for fraud: for example, the Latin “e” and the Cyrillic character are visually the same, but technically different. In addition, iCab offers practical functions such as filters that suppress tracker and ad URLs and there is the option of only displaying secure IDNs. The browser is simple and clear and maybe what many are looking for: namely a browser that is not connected to any big company. Operators of older Classic Macs will also find older versions on the download page, which will still support Macs that are out of fashion. It has been around for a few decades and the up to date version supports all current macOS versions.
